ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - Authorities are investigating a house fire in Crozet that broke out in the overnight hours Saturday.

Crews with Albemarle County Fire Rescue were called out to the 500 block of Shelton Mill Road around 1:40 a.m. Saturday, December 8. Large flames could be seen coming from the home and garage.

"No one was hurt thankfully at this time - none of the firefighters, none of the family,” said Assistant Albemarle County Fire Marshall Titus Castens.

Firefighters were able to get the blaze under control by a little after 3 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Officials estimate the loss of property and contents to be valued at $300,000. For the time being, the family will be staying with other family members.

At approximately 1:40 a.m. on December 8, 2018, Crews responded to reports of a house fire at 555 Shelton Mills Road.

First responding crews arrived 9 minutes after initial dispatch to find the house and garage involved.

After firefighting efforts the fire was deemed under control at 3:11 a.m.

Currently crews are still on scene doing overhaul.

The house was a complete loss and Red Cross is on scene to assist with the displaced homeowners.

The case is still under investigation at this time The Fire Marshals office estimates the loss of property and contents to be valued at $300,000.
