The Virginia Council on Economic Education and the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond recognized 16 educators who demonstrated exceptional delivery of personal finance and economic education in their Virginia K-12 classrooms.

The award ceremony was held December 7 at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.

Several of these educators that were recognized for their development of original K-12 economics curriculum were from central Virginia and the Valley.

Winning First Place was Gary Greenwood of Fluvanna County High School, with Bethany Everidge from Harrisonburg High School winning Second Place.

Individuals in the Valley and central Virginia also received Mini-Grant Awards in recognition of ideas they implemented in the classroom.

Tammy May of Lacey Spring Elementary School was a co-winner along with Tara Hardy of John C. Myers Elementary School.
