ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - Fire crews were called to the scene of a structure fire just before 3:30 Saturday afternoon.

Neighbors in the 900 block of Shadwell Court say a garage on the property with a small attached cottage went up in flames. But firefighters were able to contain the blaze before it reached the main house.

Albemarle County fire officials report that everyone inside the house was able to get out safely.

Two firefighters were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Right now there is no word on what sparked the blaze.  The damage to the structure and loss of contents is valued at $82,500.

On Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 15:30 Albemarle County Fire Rescue units responded for a structure fire at 924 Shadwell Ct.

The first arriving fire suppression unit arrived 5 minutes after dispatch reporting heavy fire from the garage area of the single story residential structure. Fire Department units are still on scene at time of press release.

An occupant and her pets are receiving assistance from Red Cross due to being displaced due to the incident. Two firefighters at the incident suffered minor injury and were evaluated at the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time. The Albemarle County Fire Marshal’s office estimates the damage to the structure and loss of contents to be valued at $82,500.
