Dave Matthews Band Giving Back to Public Housing in Charlottesville
Dave Matthews Band is rallying support for reinvestment in public and affordable housing in Charlottesville.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - With its hometown concerts, Dave Matthews Band is rallying support for reinvestment in public and affordable housing in Charlottesville.
A percentage of the proceeds from the Dec. 14 and 15 John Paul Jones Arena shows will be included in the $5 million that Dave Matthews Band, Dave Matthews, and Red Light Management are set to donate.
The donation will go towards the renovation and/or replacement of all of the city’s public housing, while building additional affordable housing on the existing underutilized land.
The band’s contribution will serve as a catalyzing major gift in the ongoing fundraising campaign for the resident-led, multi-phased project.
