ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - The Boar’s Head Inn is getting ready for the holiday season with its annual grand illumination.

Thousands of lights decorated the resort as the tree-lighting ceremony got underway on Friday. The resort featured horse-drawn carriage rides and a visit from Santa Claus.

Boar’s Head management said they want everyone in the community to come out and share some of the cheer.

“Typically, you come to a resort and you’re going to come for a big dinner or some of the fancier things that are quite expensive,” said Shawn Jernijen of the Boar’s Head Inn. “But tonight’s a night that we share with the community and bring people out to come see us and enjoy their family time with us.”

Friday’s festivities will include not only lights and Santa, but also free hot chocolate, cookies, and rides in a horse drawn carriage.

The decorations around the resort will be up until the New Year.
