Former Albemarle County School Counselor Arraigned on 2 More Charges
Richard Sidebottom appeared in Charlottesville Circuit Court Friday for an arraignment on two charges: object sexual penetration, and aggravated sexual battery.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A former Albemarle County Public Schools psychologist and counselor is facing more charges in Charlottesville.
Richard Winlock Sidebottom appeared in Charlottesville Circuit Court Friday, November 9, for an arraignment on two additional charges. According to court records those charges are object sexual penetration and aggravated sexual battery of a victim under 13 years old, which allegedly occurred on January 1, 2009. A grand jury had indicted Sidebottom on these two counts back in October.
A grand jury had indicted Sidebottom back in June on four counts of indecent liberties with children under 15 years old. Those offenses allegedly happened between August 2016 and January 2018.
Police said they had received a report of multiple incidences of indecent exposure back in April 2018.
According to Albemarle County Public Schools, Sidebottom retired from the school system in 2011 after working there since 1978.
Sidebottom is currently out on bond. His next court dates are set for February 27, 2019, and March 14, 2019
