Fluvanna Co. Sheriff's Deputy Involved in Crash on Route 15
Authorities believe the driver of a box truck crossed the double-yellow line on Route 15 early Thursday morning, striking a deputy's SUV. Both suffered minor injuries.
FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - A deputy with the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office is recovering after an early-morning crash on James Madison Highway / Route 15.
The sheriff's office says the deputy was hit by a box truck near the Union Mills Road intersection around 5:20 a.m. Thursday, November 8. Investigators believe the northbound box truck crossed the double-yellow line and struck the southbound deputy.
Virginia State Police have charged the box truck's driver with reckless driving.
Both drivers involved have minor injuries.
A portion of Route 15 was closed for several hours, but has since been reopen to traffic.

On 11-08-2018 at 0521 hours, a motor vehicle crash occurred on James Madison Highway (Rt.15) south of the intersection with Union Mills Road.
A Fluvanna County Sheriff’s SUV was on routine patrol traveling south on James Madison Highway when it was struck by a box trucking traveling north on James Madison Highway.
Initial investigation indicates the box truck crossed the double yellow line and struck the Sheriff’s Office SUV.
The drivers of both vehicles suffered minor injuries.
The Virginia State Police investigated the crash and the driver of the box truck was charged with reckless driving.
The crash resulted in James Madison Highway being shut down for several hours, but the roadway is now open.
