Sentencing Delayed for MS-13 Member Convicted of Murder
A man convicted for a gang-related murder will now have to wait until February 2019 to find out his punishment.
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - A man involved in a gang-related murder will now have to wait until February 2019 to find out his punishment.
Nineteen-year-old Eduardo Zelaya, a known member of the gang MS-13, pleaded guilty back in August to murder by mob and criminal street gang participation.
Prosecutors say they want to handle sentencing for Zelaya and three others around the same time.
All four were convicted in connection with the murder of 24-year-old Marvin Rivera-Guevara. The victim’s body was discovered in a creek within the Woolen Mills area on July 4, 2017.
Zelaya could face up to 31 years behind bars.
His sentencing is set for February 4, 2019.
