CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - With less than two weeks until Election Day, University of Virginia’s Center for Politics says the race for Virginia's 5th District is tight.

Larry Sabato's Crystal Ball announced on Thursday, October 25, that it now lists the 5th District as a toss-up.

Democrat Leslie Cockburn and Republican Denver Riggleman are the two candidates vying for the seat that’s being vacated by Republican Tom Garrett.

A recent poll by the New York Times showed Cockburn with a slim lead over Riggleman.

The 5th District has traditionally leaned Republican.

President Trump carried the 5th District in the 2016 election.
