CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Governor Ralph Northam spoke with investors and philanthropists at the University of Virginia on Friday to encourage them to make an impact in their communities.
People who want to affect change through impactful investing gathered at the Virginia Impact Summit. The group is spending the day learning how to invest in businesses that help their community and Virginia as a whole.
Northam said that the outcome of the summit will help people all across the state of Virginia.
“This is really a means of investing in Virginia in a philanthropic way so that we can really help all people in Virginia and help the social good in Virginia,” Northam said. “These are business leaders and individuals that are encouraged by philanthropy.”
On Friday, the summit will include sessions discussing affordable housing and health care.
Attendees are encouraged to take what they learn at the summit and invest in businesses that can have a positive impact.
