CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A Louisa County man charged with sexual assault of a University of Virginia student had a hearing on Friday morning in General District Court.

A Charlottesville judge denied bond to 29-year-old Jowell Travis Legendre and ordered a blood test. Legendre faces objection sexual penetration, forcible sodomy, robbery, and two larceny charges.

A female UVA student told police a man she didn't know hit her in the face and sexually assaulted her near the intersection of Grady Avenue and 14th Street on Wednesday night. The victim said the attacker took her wallet and other items after the attack.

Legendre will remain in jail and is due back in court on November 15.
