HPD Investigating Pedestrian-Involved Traffic Crash
Police are investigating a crash involving a pedestrian near the intersection of South High Street and South Avenue. A 49-year-old woman is being treated for serious injuries.

Harrisonburg, VA – On Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at approximately 10:45 a.m. officers with the Harrisonburg Police Department (HPD) responded to a traffic crash involving a pedestrian in the 1100 block of South High Street.
Preliminary investigation shows a tractor-trailer was traveling southbound on South High Street and had struck a pedestrian near the intersection with South Avenue. A witness stated the pedestrian had run into the road and was struck by the tractor-trailer.
The pedestrian struck is a 49-year-old female. She was transported by the Harrisonburg Rescue Squad to Sentara RMH and was then flown to University of Virginia (UVA) medical center with serious injuries.
HPD diverted southbound traffic while Fire and Rescue personnel treated the victim. There were no other injuries reported.
HPD is still investigating the crash, no charges have been placed at this time.
