CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - With the anniversary of August 12 quickly approaching, a decision has been made to cancel this week’s Fridays After Five event.

The general manager of the Sprint Pavilion says this decision was made considering the safety and convenience of attendees and volunteers.

Fridays After Five will resume as planned on August 17.

08/07/2018 Release from Red Light Management:

(Charlottesville, August 7 at 9:30 a.m.) With the upcoming anniversary of August 12, the City has announced a wide range of security plans that will affect access and parking in the downtown area beginning this Friday afternoon.

With those plans in mind and after consulting with and receiving input from the City Emergency Planning Committee, the decision has been made to cancel the August 10 Fridays After Five event.

We always take the safety and convenience of our patrons and volunteers into consideration whenever we have to consider cancelling a Friday’s.

We regret that we had to make this decision for this week and hope to bring the artists back soon.

We hope that everyone has a safe and uneventful weekend. We look forward to seeing you back downtown for the next Fridays After Five on August 17 and on into the fall.
