Waynesboro Police Charge Elementary PTO Treasurer with Embezzlement
Victoria Joyce Carter, the treasurer of a parent-teacher organization in the Shenandoah Valley, is accused of embezzling thousands of dollars from the group.
WAYNESBORO, Va. (WVIR) - The treasurer of a parent-teacher organization (PTO) in the Shenandoah Valley is accused of taking thousands of dollars from the group.
The Waynesboro Police Department recently charged 32-year-old Victoria Joyce Carter with 10 counts of felony embezzlement.
According to police, the investigation began in late May when officials at Berkeley Glenn Elementary School reported the issue.
Carter is accused of taking roughly $12,000 for personal expenses from the school’s PTO.
It allegedly happened between August 2017 and May 2018.
Authorities say Carter turned herself in to police on Friday, August 3, and that she is currently out on bond.
