Senator Kaine Opens Campaign Office on Downtown Mall
Senator Tim Kaine opened a new campaign office on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville in hopes of uniting the Democratic ticket.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Virginia Senator Tim Kaine brought his re-election campaign to Charlottesville on Friday to open a new office located inside of York Place on the Downtown Mall.
The office will serve as the city campaign headquarters for both Kaine and 5th Distinct Congressional candidate Leslie Cockburn. Kaine says he’s focused on creating a Virginia that works for all people, emphasizing healthcare, good jobs and education for all Virginians.
Kaine says sharing campaign space with another Democratic candidate will help him work towards his goal of building a strong, united Democratic ticket in Virginia for 2018.
“We saw in November of 2017 that Virginians were energized not only behind governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, but local candidates and so I’m trying to campaign with folks running for Congress and also City Council and other offices all around the commonwealth,” Kaine said.
The senator added that Charlottesville will play a key role in his campaign, as he said he’s always received strong support in the local area. The new office is just one of more than 20 field offices Kaine has opened across the state over the last few weeks.
