Classical music filled the James River Boys and Girls Club in Scottsville on Friday as children showed off their new violin skills.

Members of the Boys and Girls Club spent the week learning how to play the violin with the help of two instructors from the Charlottesville Symphony.

The final day of camp featured a concert, which also involved some audience participation.

The theme of the camp was “music brings us all together.”

“It’s really important to integrate music and violin in particular to these kids because a lot of theme won’t get the opportunity to play a classical instrument like this and if we have the resources, why not do it?” said Charlottesville Symphony instructor Danielle Wiebe.

This camp was an extension of the James River Club Violin Program, which received a Program of the Year award from the Boys and Girls Club of America.
