CPD: 1 Dead, 1 in Custody Following Shooting at Days Inn
A woman has been pronounced dead after she was shot on Friday, June 22, at the Days Inn in Charlottesville.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - A woman has been pronounced dead after she was shot on Friday, June 22, at the Days Inn in Charlottesville.
Charlottesville police have taken one person into custody in connection to that Friday night shooting.
Police responded to a call for a gunshot wound just before 8 p.m. at the Days Inn on Emmet Street. Once on scene, police found the female victim not breathing and performed CPR.
She was transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center where she was pronounced dead later Friday night.
So far, one male has been taken into custody.
Police believe this was an isolated incident and say the scene at the Days Inn is safe.
The Charlottesville Police Department is still working to notify the victim’s family.
This incident is under investigation, and police say they will provide additional details sometime Saturday.
