CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The University of Virginia swimming and diving team welcomed its newest teammate on Friday: 6-year-old Cary Lynn, of Bumpass, who is battling cerebral palsy.
This whole feat was made possible by Team Impact, which is a nonprofit with a mission to improve quality of life for children facing serious and chronic illnesses.
Lynn woke up at 5:00 a.m. Friday, excited about her first day and ready to sport her blue and orange for the special occasion. Along with her mom and brother, Lynn signed her letter of intent as the top recruit for the swim team.
Cary Lynn was welcomed by the team members as Coach Todd Desorbo welcomed the newest Wahoo. As a team member, she will attend practices, games and team dinners.
Coach Desorbo says the pool deck will always be open for Lynn to come hangout.
