CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Dozens gathered at Monticello High School in Albemarle County on Wednesday, April 25, for a joint legislative town hall.
Virginia State Senator Creigh Deeds and Delegate David Toscano - both Democrats - spent the evening sharing their thoughts on the 2018 general assembly session. They also took time to answer questions and listen to concerns from their constituents.
“It's really important for us to hear from our constituents tonight to see what's on their minds and let them know a little bit about what we've been doing and what we hope to accomplish when we go back in a couple weeks to get a budget,” says Toscano.
"We want to make sure that Medicaid expansion, in some form or another, is part of the budget,” says Deeds. “That will not only provide an economic boost all over Virginia, it will provide healthcare to over 300,000 working Virginians."
State senators will be back in Richmond to take up the budget on May 14. Senators have until May 7 to submit alternate proposals.
