CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - After being selected in the 9th round (265th overall) by Detroit in the 2016 MLB draft, Daniel Pinero has reached a deal with the Tigers.

Pinero's contract is worth $169,600, which is the full value of pick No. 265. 

The Tigers selected Pinero in the 36th round of last year's MLB draft, but the Toronto native opted to return for his third season at UVa.

In his three seasons at Virginia Pinero started in 194 games. The short stop batted .340, had 20 doubles, four home runs and 39 RBI as a junior this past season.
