CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - An exhibition of stirring and graphic photos is underway on Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall as a preview of the LOOK3 Photography Festival.

Russian photographer Yuri Kozyrev shot two photo series, one documenting the Arab revolution, and the other depicting life in Cuba.
Mary Virginia Swanson, the executive director of the LOOK3 Festival, says one goal is to bring the realities of the world's hardships to the Charlottesville community.  “It’s what photojournalists do every day, risk their lives for us to better understand the issues and it's very, very important that we bring this to the public,” she said.

The photos are hanging near the Free Speech Wall, outside of City Hall.

The LOOK3 Festival officially begins Monday, June 13 and runs through Sunday, June 19.  Click here for a full schedule of events.
