CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Next time you're walking along the downtown mall in Charlottesville, take a look up at the trees.

Sunday morning, the LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph installed 20 double-sided national history canvases along the mall.

These feature the work of internationally recognized Dutch photographer Frans Lanting. Lanting is one of many artists who will share their stories and inspirations during the week-long festival, which starts June 13.

"One of the most wonderful parts of LOOK3 is that we can bring some public art to the community for everyone to engage, whether they choose to go inside a gallery or attend a lecture. Everyone in Charlottesville, all of our visitors will experience these amazing photographs," Mary Virginia Swanson, executive director of the festival, said.

LOOK3 organizers hope Lanting's work will give people a sample of the power of photography.
