CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Renovations for the Virginia Discovery Museum's 25th anniversary began on Friday.

The Children's Education Center on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville is getting new lights, floors, and paint.

The University of Virginia’s Madison House and Building Goodness Foundation are helping with renovations, which also include six new learning exhibits.

“To make sure that our exhibits are closely aligned with all of the skills that children need to be ready for kindergarten like recognizing letters, understanding some basic scientific principles and knowing how to work together as a team to solve problems,” said Janine Dozier of the Virginia Discovery Museum.

There will be a pop-up museum starting April 11 on the Downtown Mall. That museum will be there until renovations are expected to finish by the middle of May.
