Media Release from the Albemarle County Police Department:

Right now, the Albemarle County Fire Department is investigating a vehicle fire that firefighters responded to Sunday around 10:30 p.m. at a residence in the 3800 block of Pritchett Lane.

I have been asked to help with getting out what information is known at this time.

Once crews were able to extinguish the fire, they discovered a body in the driver’s seat. That body has been sent to the medical examiner’s office in Richmond, however, the fire marshal’s office is still working at this moment to obtain a positive identification on the person. The office will then need to let family know of the death before a name can be released.

Preliminary results in this investigation are not pointing to any foul play.

We have nothing further at this time.
