Seven St. Anne's Belfield Student-Athletes Sign Letters of Intent
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - It was a special day at Saint Anne's Belfield Wednesday. Seven student-athletes signed their pledge to play collegiate sports.
Javin Delaurier signed to play basketball at Duke.
DeLaurier says, "It was definitely a grind but the good thing is I love it. I love basketball and I've really enjoyed the process of getting here."
Jalen Harrison and Bobby Nicholson will play baseball together at the University of Virginia.
Nicholson says, "I couldn't be more excited to be going to the University of Virginia. Its an amazing feeling."
Harrison says, "To be able to sign the papers and know that you're really going there is a great feeling. I'm very humble and I'm very blessed to be able to say that I can do that."
Fitz Woodrow will take his irons to South Carolina, to play Golf at Charleston.
Woodrow says, "Its special. I know some of the guys, who are committed in my class. We're going to be good buddies. I'm happy to be able to play golf everyday. It’s a great sport to play and practice."
Mailynn Steppe is headed to Blacksburg to play lacrosse at Virginia Tech.
Steppe says, "I like the coaching staff and its a great environment. I love the girls on the team. Its just the right place for me."
Teammate Caroline DiGiacomo will head west to play lacrosse at the University of Denver.
DiGiacomo says, "Its definitely a relief. I can play when I want to and play with my friends. I can continue to work on all that stuff that I need to, [in order to improve my game]."
Maddie hunter will play lacrosse and run cross country at Davidson College.
Hunter says, "Its amazing that there are so many amazing athletes in our class. To see them all signing and going to amazing schools. Its going to be fun watching each other through the news and media over the years."
