CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Charlottesville’s Annual Community Health Fair will be held this Saturday in Washington Park from 10 a.m until 2 p.m. The event will provide free health screenings and health information.

The University of Virginia Health System, Martha Jefferson Hospital, and the Virginia Department of Health will all have staff and volunteers on hand to help the community.

There will be free screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, vision and hearing, and body mass index, along with testing for kidney disease and artery disease. People will be on hand with information about many health issues, including Alzheimer’s, cancer, heart disease, poison prevention and nutrition. There will also be mammograms for women over 40, and youth sports physicals.

The health fair is happening in conjunction with the 26th Annual African American Cultural Arts Festival, also in Washington Park.
There will be food, games, and raffle prizes.

All of the screenings are free, but you do have to preregister for mammograms and sports physicals and you'll need to show insurance information for the mammograms or join a cost-covering program.  Call 434-243-4704 for mammogram sign ups and 434-243-2079 for sports physicals.
