RICHMOND, Va. (WVIR) - The Sixth-seeded Saint Anne's Belfield boys lacrosse team defeated Saint Christopher's 11-1 to win the VISAA Division I State Lacrosse Championship Saturday (May 16th) in Richmond. 

Saints head coach Bo Perriello says, "It really feels great. We haven't won a state championship since 2009.  (We) Haven't been in a championship game since 2010. This is the goal every year. I can't tell you how great it feels."

The Saints took a 2-1 lead in the first quarter and led 4-1 at halftime. STAB goal keeper Eric Buhle had 14 saves in the cage. Junior attack and North Carolina commit Philip Robertson led STAB with five goals in the team's state championship win.

Robertson says, "Three one goal losses to Saint Stevens, Paul VI and Saint Chris. We knew coming into the tournament we had a chip on our shoulder and wanted to prove something."
