Charlottesville Soup Public Dinner Series Supports Area Artists
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The Charlottesville organization New City Arts is bringing back a series of dinners designed to support artists in the community.
At the Charlottesville Soup event you get a bowl of soup and a vote for $10. Artists then pitch their work and whoever the audience votes for gets a $1,000 to $2,000 grant.
The event is designed to support people in the community, right down to the soup bowls made by Charlottesville artists.
“There are so few opportunities to support individual artists. For an artist to maintain their practice or take it to the next level or complete an exciting project, they really need the support of a community,” said Victoria Long of Charlottesville Soup.
Tickets for the first dinner in the series on May 3 sold out in less than 15 minutes. The waitlist is full as well but there will be two more soup dinners this year. Click here for more information.
