CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Volunteers from several community organizations in Charlottesville spent Saturday morning helping families in need get ready for the holiday season.

They gathered at Ebenezer Baptist Church to hand out food for Thanksgiving. The groups passed out turkeys and bags of food with cornbread, green beans, mashed potatoes, and all the fixings you'd expect at a Thanksgiving feast.

Volunteer Organizer Wes Bellamy said, “You just see the love, the joy, the smiles on the children's faces as well as the families' faces from them knowing they're going to have a great Thanksgiving and that's just really what it's all about.”

The groups passed out meals to 275 families in the community. This is the third year the church has organized the Thanksgiving Basket Drive.
