People geared up in their boots and cowboy hats Sunday afternoon at the Senior Center in Charlottesville.

Members from the Virginia Reelers paired up with people to teach square dancing skills. Square dancers from other area clubs also came out to the event. One Virginia Reeler says the dancing is a chance to have fun and get exercise.

"My wife is a personal trainer and she's always telling people that moving is the best thing anybody can do to prolong their lives, and so this is a great opportunity to kind of walk and kind of trot to music," Steve Valorz said.

The group hopes to put on more events like this one in the coming months. They say you don't have to be a square dance expert because learning the moves is the fun part.
