A 56-year-old driver in Charlottesville got a scary wake-up call after her car shot straight through a brick wall Tuesday morning. The crash happened in the 400 block of 15th Street Northwest shortly before 10 a.m.

Police and fire crews responded and helped to clean up the scene of the accident. No one was hurt, but there was a total of $9,000 worth of damage. 

Charlottesville police say a mechanical issue with the car caused the accident. 

Clarification: Charlottesville firefighters on scene initially told NBC29 that they thought an issue with the car's accelerator caused the accident. Charlottesville police confirmed that a 'mechanical issue' caused the accident.
