Photo lovers in Charlottesville have the chance to check out lots of snapshots featured in an upcoming festival.

The sixth Look3 Charlottesville Festival of the Photograph opened all its exhibits to the public for First Friday receptions. More than 1,000 people are expected to check out the displays located in venues across downtown Charlottesville.

Organizers say the festival appeals to many different interests.

"It's lots of different genres of photography, lots of different types of exhibits - whether just print or video installations.  So we're really trying to showcase photography in all of its different forms and how contemporary photographers are using the medium in new ways," said Andrew Owen, Look3 managing director.

The exhibits were open until 7:30 p.m. Friday, but the actual festival will start next Thursday.
