May 2, 2010

Afternoon - Yeardley Love, Kaitlin Duff, Caity Whitely go to brunch at a restaurant on the UVA corner. They return to their apartment to do school work. 

Afternoon: George Huguely attend a golf outing during the day with teammates. During the golf outing, Huguely's neighbor Kaitlyn Taylor receives a text message from Huguely  that was sexual in nature.  

5 – 6 p.m.: Whitely  and Love return to the bar at around 5 or 6 p.m. and stay until about 10 p.m.  

7:30 p.m. – Huguely goes to dinner with teammates and his father at C&O restaurant. Friends say that Huguely was drinking all day long. They also say he was in the car with his father following dinner to talk about some papers for a graduation present, before returning to his apartment with his friends.   

10 p.m. - Brea Thomas, another female friend of Huguely's, receives text messages that were sexual in nature. She says she was at the library and didn't respond until 11:22 p.m. 

10 p.m. - Love and Whitely return to her apartment.  Love and her friends had planned to go back to her apartment, shower and return to the bar but Love decides to stay home.  

11 p.m. - Whiteley leaves the apartment around 11 p.m., leaving Love home alone.

11:30 p.m. - Huguely claims he was downstairs in another apartment with a friend. That friend, Chris Clements, says Huguely came into his apartment around 11:30, but tells him to leave and locks his door.  

11:40 p.m. - Huguely's friends leave his apartment to pick up beer at the Corner Market. When they return, Huguely is not at the apartment. They say they are not sure when he left the apartment, or if he was even in the apartment when they left. 

11:50 p.m. Love's downstairs neighbor Anna Lehman hears a crashing sound from Love's apartment.  Minutes later, she hears heavy footsteps and sees a male leaving the building. 

May 3, 2010

12:00 a.m. - George Huguely's friend, William 'Mikey' Thompson, says Huguely used his bathroom around midnight.  

12:15 a.m.  - Huguely returns to his apartment, according to friends he goes to bed and does not leave again.  

2:00 a.m. - Love's roommate Whitely returns from the bar and finds Love's body.  

2:20 a.m. - Police officers and EMT crews arrive on the scene.  They attempt CPR and resuscitation efforts for approximately 25 minutes. 

2:45 a.m. – CPR and resuscitation efforts cease, Detective Lisa Reeves receives call for a homicide.  

3:06 a.m. - Forensic team arrives. Investigators testified medics were no longer in the apartment at that time.  

3:30 a.m. - Detective Reeves arrives at the apartment.  

6:47 a.m. - Investigators execute search warrants for Love's apartment. Detective Reeves gets Huguely's address from Whitely. 

7:00 a.m.  - Detectives pick up Huguely for questioning, and leave for the police station. 

7:53 a.m. - Huguely signs documents waiving rights. The interrogation video tape, which was played in court, lasted about an hour and a half.  Tape shows Huguely admitting going to Love's apartment, but doesn't specify what time. Huguely spends several hours at the station.   

11:52 a.m. - Investigators obtain search warrant for the person of George Huguely.  DNA buccal swabs, fingernail scrapings, and hair samples taken.  Photographs taken of injuries on legs, arms and hands.

12:08 p.m. - Charlottesville police issue press release stating Huguely is charged with first-degree murder, and is being held at the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail.  

Note:  Defense toxicologist expert estimates Love's time of death as 2:30 a.m. Experts for the prosecution estimate it took at least two hours for Love to die and as many as six.
