Brent Solomon provides breaking news updates from the First Alert Center on NBC 12 News at 4 p.m. and brings us the latest news headlines that are trending nationwide. He also brings live reports for NBC12 News at 11 p.m.

Brent began working for NBC12 in October of 2012. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and a graduate degree from Purdue University.

A native of Tampa, FL, he is proud to call the Commonwealth home after working at television stations in Miami, Tampa, Little Rock, Albany and Savannah, GA.

During his career, Brent has interviewed a host of influential people including President Jimmy Carter, Vice-President Joe Biden, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Ambassador Andrew Young, singer Trey Songz, and many others.

He believes effective journalism holds the power accountable and presents the unbiased truth in order to help us live our lives better. Brent is a supporter of Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the March of Dimes.

Brent is also an Adjunct Professor, teaching Public Speaking and a variety of Communication courses at Virginia State University.”

When he’s not at work, Brent enjoys public speaking, mentoring, fitness, and giving back to the community through the service efforts of his fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha.
