Sunsets with Sentara is a community event at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital.  It’s an evening filled with music, food and fellowship.

“Sunsets is one of our favorite events that we host every year and it’s really an opportunity to invite the community onto our beautiful campus to enjoy a great band and some great fellowship for non-medical reason,” said Catherine Hughes, Executive Director at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital.

This is the third year Sentara Martha Jefferson has hosted the event.  It’s meant to bring hospital staff and the community together.

“It’s just a great way to invite people to our campus, and meet people in the community and build on the relationships with people we already have relationships with,” noted Hughes.

Although the event is free, the Cancer Center does receive support from the evening.

“We have some great local sponsors that help us underwrite the expenses of the event and the proceeds do benefit our Cancer Center,” said Hughes.

The Jason Burke Band will be performing at the July event and food and drink trucks will be on-site.  Bring-your-own picnics are also allowed.  The goal is to provide options for everyone to ensure an enjoyable evening.

“Inviting people to a hospital setting when they are not in need of medical care provides us a unique way to get to know our community,” noted Hughes.

Sunsets with Sentara will be held on Wednesday July 24th from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. on the front lawn of Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital.  For more information, please click here.
