CROZET, Va. (WVIR) - Smoke from wildfires in eastern Canada is impacting air quality in central Virginia.
As of 8:00 a.m. on Friday, June 9, Crozet had the worst air quality index in the state, with Charlottesville in sixth, per IQAir.
“Crozet is not usually in the area of being one of the most polluted cities or towns within America, so it definitely caught my attention,” IQAir CEO Glory Hammes said.
The smoke was enough to prompt masks to be handed out as fans entered Disheroon Park for Friday’s UVA baseball game.
Conditions improved as the day went on.
