CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The Virginia baseball team earned a series sweep against North Carolina for the first time since 2015, as the 11th ranked Cavaliers defeated the Tar Heels 10-3 on Sunday at Disharoon Park.

Alex Tappen got the scoring started with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 1st inning.

UVA took control of the game by scoring five runs in the 2nd, and they were never threatened the rest of the way.

Jake Berry earned the win on the mound, as the sophomore pitched 5.0 innings, giving up 2-runs on 4-hits with 6-strikeouts.

Alex Tappen went 7-for-14 (.500) with a double, two home runs, five runs scored, and five RBI in the three-game series against UNC.

The senior has a career-high ten home runs so far this season.

Virginia (31-10, 13-8 ACC) will be back in action at Old Dominion on Tuesday.
