Apex Plaza opens in Charlottesville
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Charlottesville is now home to the tallest mass timber building on the East Coast.
Apex Clean Energy is celebrating the opening of its new building in downtown Charlottesville.
The building has a mass timber framework and is completely sustainable. It runs on renewable energy including on-site solar panels.
“It’s essentially a wood building that will last forever and can be built quickly and efficiently and replaces the carbon intensive methods for building that we’ve used for decades,” Apex Clean Energy’s President and CEO Mark Goodwin said.
Apex Clean Energy has always been based in Charlottesville but now has a building that can house all of its employees.
