Stepping Stone Charlottesville offers assistance to children in need
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Stepping Stone Charlottesville is the area’s newest non-profit aimed at helping families.
It’s setting up at 509B Park Street to help children three years and under. People can receive diapers, wipes and all other necessary items for babies. They have basinets, clothes and strollers as well.
“There are one in 5 children in poverty in the area, and we felt like this was a need that would greatly benefit our community here,” Executive Director Ashely Schneider said.
The organization works with a network of agencies, hospitals, other non-profits and shelters. Partners including ReadyKids, International Neighbors and UVA health can identify families in need. They reach out to Stepping Stone Charlottesville to voice a given family’s need.
“We fill their orders from our inventory of donations or with items we purchase new,” Schneider said.
Their office is located in the back and parking is available.
They’re looking for volunteers and donations.
