Reports indicate UVA’s negotiations with Tony Elliott hit a snag
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - There’s still no word on who will be the University of Virginia’s head football coach next fall and new reports suggest it may not be Clemson Offensive Coordinator Tony Elliott.
Elliot appeared to be the top candidate in the search, so much so that he and his family flew to Charlottesville Dec. 9, to meet with UVA officials. But, now Sports Illustrated is reporting negotiations have hit a snag.
On the afternoon of Dec 9, UVA’s Academic and Student Life Committee met in a closed meeting to discuss quote “personnel actions.”
This committee is part of the UVA Board of Visitors and oversees the athletic department. There’s no confirmation that the closed meeting was about a coaching hire.
