CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The Virginia baseball team hit three home runs, but the Cavaliers fell 8-6 against #19 Miami in their season opener on Friday at Disharoon Park.

Kyle Teel and Zack Gelof hit back-to-back home runs in the 7th inning, and Devin Ortiz added a solo shot in the 8th.

Ortiz has three home runs in his last four games.

Gelof’s homer was an inside-the-park home run, the second of his career.

The ‘Hoos pounded out 13 hits, and brought the winning run to the plate in the bottom of the 9th, but they were unable to deliver a victory in Game One of the series.

The teams will be back on the field for Game Two on Saturday at one o’clock.
