CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The Blue Ridge Health District expanded access to the coronavirus vaccine to folks in phase 1b Monday, January 18. However, many are wondering where they can sign up for the shot and how soon can they get it.
“This process is what we’re going to have to follow to make sure that we get that vaccine,” BRHD Deputy Public Information Officer Jason Elliott said.
That process to get vaccinated in phase 1b includes filling out a survey on the health district’s website.
“On there we have a page set up with several different surveys and you click the link that you fall into for your survey, fill it out, and then somebody will contact you as far as the next steps to get your vaccine,” Elliott said.
Those in phase 1b include frontline essential workers, people who are 65 and older, and those who are ages 16 to 64 with an underlying health condition.
To sign up, you have to submit a survey by going to Blueridgehd.org. Then, on the left side of the screen, there is a panel that says, “COVID-19.” Under “COVID-19″ click “COVID-19 Vaccination.” Scroll down when you’re on the “COVID-19 Vaccination” page and you will see the different survey categories. Click the one you fall under and take the survey.
“Once you read through all of that, you simply click the big button that says, ‘complete survey,’ and then it’ll ask you a few questions about who you are, where you are, and how we can best get in touch with you,” Elliott said.
Once the survey is complete, Elliott says a member from the Blue Ridge Health District will contact you to set up a vaccination appointment.
“We’re reaching out to folks as quickly as we can. We are getting a lot of responses to that, so we appreciate the patience,” Elliott said.
If you have trouble filling out the survey, you can call the Blue Ridge Health District’s hotline at 434-972-6261. The hotline is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. You can also send questions to the Blue Ridge Health District’s email at BRhealthdistrict@gmail.com.
