PULASKI CO., Va. (WDBJ) - Virginia’s State Parks offered First Day hikes. And in western Virginia some hardy souls kept their date with the outdoors.
Claytor Lake State Park was cold and gray, with a stiff breeze and misty rain Friday morning.
Judy and Mac McCord are frequent visitors who volunteer at the state park and said they enjoy the experience year round.
“Not a lot of birds out today,”Judy McCord told us. “But it’s fun to see the park in different kinds of weather and different times of the year,” Mac McCord added.
39 Virginia State Parks offered First Day hikes and free parking on New Year’s Day.
