Ridge Street Priority Neighborhood Task Force discusses projects for community block grant funding

The Ridge Street Priority Neighborhood Taskforce met Wednesday night to begin the process of determining where the next round of Community Development Block Grant funding will go.

The taskforce is charged with creating a list of projects and improvements for Ridge Street and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Among the ideas being considered are more green spaces and better playground equipment at Jordan Park.

One major talking point at the meeting was how to slow down traffic on Ridge Street, by potentially adding stoplights and more speed limit markings.

The task force plans to gather input from the community on potential projects in the next few weeks.ulding from the task force said. “Because, I know the traffic man said to me, ‘well, everybody knows all neighborhoods are supposed to be 25 miles an hour.’ I said ‘well, that’s an assumption that I don’t think we know.’”

The taskforce plans to gather input from the community on potential projects in the next few weeks.

The Community Development Block Grant Task Force is set to meet on November 12.
