CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Governor Ralph Northam announced on Wednesday that more nonprofits and small businesses will be able to apply for grants through the Rebuild VA Grant Fund.
This comes just a week after the Charlottesville-based Center for Nonprofit Excellence (CNE) sent a letter to the governor asking for more support.
The new guidelines allow businesses with less than $10 million in gross revenue or fewer than 250 employees to receive assistance. It also increased the maximum grant award from $10,000 to $100,000.
“These changes to the program will ensure that we can provide additional financial assistance to even more Virginians so they can weather this public health crisis and emerge stronger," said Gov. Northam.
Christine Nardi, the executive director of CNE was thankful for the changes. She was one of a dozen members of the nonprofit community to sign the initial letter.
“The Governor’s announcement today is a great step in the right direction,” she said in a press release. “We look forward to working with the Governor and his Administration to continue making sure a range of nonprofit voices are at the table in plotting a path to recovery.”
