STANARDSVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Greene County supervisors Tuesday night approved a special use permit for a drive-in movie theater in Ruckersville along route 29
The 5-0 vote came after a public hearing on the matter. The planning commission last month recommended the board approve the request.
The drive-in will be just north of the Lowe’s on Seminole Trail and serve as a way to help people out during the coronavirus pandemic.
“The goal is to provide entertainment in the pandemic era,” Director of Planning and Zoning Jim Frydl said. " It would start out with mobile foods, mobile concessions. There isn’t currently an immediate proposal to build any new structures."
The goal is to get the movie screen up and operating as quickly as it’s needed.
Events must end before midnight, with no more than 295 vehicles allowed per movie showing
