FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) - It was a hero’s welcome in Fluvanna County Sunday night for an assistant fire chief who won his long battle against COVID-19.

Frankie Sheridan, of Kents Store Volunteer Fire Department, was escorted home by fire engines and police sirens after a 51-day hospital stay battling the coronavirus. His family and friends lined the streets to wave and cheer.

The local fire service legend is now safe at home and on the mend.
