ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A 17-year-old charged in a deadly Thanksgiving shooting in Virginia has been caught by authorities in North Carolina.
Citing a Fairfax County police statement, news outlets report the teen was arrested Friday in Buncombe County, North Carolina, on charges of murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Authorities didn’t immediately release his identity.
The teen is accused of shooting 30-year-old Ever Deras-Borjas, of Springfield, on Thursday. Deras-Borjas’ official cause of death is pending an autopsy. Authorities said the shooting wasn’t believed to be a random act of violence. They later learned the suspect may have fled to North Carolina.
