CHARLOTTESVILLE, V.A. (WVIR) - William Monroe High School basketball standout Martha Apple will play in college at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.

She had her ceremonial signing Wednesday at Monroe with the division two school.

Apple says she chose Jefferson University partly because it has the fashion, marketing and management program she's interested in.

Apple says the school also has a good basketball program, making it a perfect fit for her.

Apple says, “It’s been a goal and a dream for about ten years since I started playing basketball in YMCA and I saw the UVA women’s players and said that is what I want to be.”
