CHARLOTTESVILLE, V.A. (WVIR) - Fluvanna County High School running back and inside linebacker Malachi Hill has been named the Falcon Club Player of the Week.

Hill rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown Friday in Fluvanna’s big win over Monticello. He also had 13 tackles on defense. It was Fluvanna’s regular season finale.

The Flucos considered that game a playoff game and the win clinched Fluvanna's berth into the postseason."It feels good to be recognized for your play," says Hill. "It's not just my play. The only reason I'm recognized is because of everything my team does. Really I just came out and ran the ball hard as always and got the ball carrier on defense and made tackles."

"He's a good kid," says Fluvanna head coach Mike Morris. "Malachi is one of those kids, I have him in class actually, he's funny but he's a middle linebacker, so he's also tough. It's a good mix for him. He's a class clown sometimes but he's a good student at the same time."

Fluvanna plays at Spotswood Friday in the first round of the VHSL playoffs.
